Falk Schwendicke

Falk Schwendicke

Professor and Director of the Clinic for Operative, Preventive and Pediatric Dentistry and Periodontology at the Ludwig Maximilian University Hospital in Munich, Germany's largest dental clinic.

Prof. Schwendicke's research interests are in the areas of restorative and preventive dentistry, dental diagnostics and artificial intelligence, health economics, health services research and public health. He has authored over 500 articles, 250 abstracts, and 30 book chapters and has been invited to give over 300 lectures, including the Buonocore Memorial Lecture.

 

Prof. Schwendicke has received a number of prestigious awards and is a reviewer for over 40 journals, including Lancet and the New England Journal of Medicine, as well as for various national funding agencies. He is Associate Editor of the Journal of Dental Research and chairs working groups at the World Health Organization (WHO), the World Dental Organization (FDI), and the International Standards Organization (ISO). Prof. Schwendicke holds honorary professorships at the Universities of Aarhus (Denmark) and Chennai (India). He has been one of the most cited researchers worldwide in dentistry for many years (Standford Ranking <1%) and is the most cited expert on dental caries.

Dr. Margaret Scarlett DMD

Dr. Margaret Scarlett DMD 

An internationally recognized author, dental clinician, and academic leader, Dr. Margaret Scarlett is a policy expert who is focused on the unique challenges of adoption of AI in dentistry, including use of diagnostic and other imaging software. 

 

With a strong scientific background, Dr. Scarlett understands both scientific methods and regulatory pathways to ensure safety and efficacy of AI, while avoiding bias. 

 

As a participant in the American Dental Association ISO 18374 dental AI design and validation standards committee and other efforts to affect AI policy, Dr. Scarlett balances her focus between the fast-paced corporate technology AI capacity and emerging governmental regulatory efforts to advance the adoption of new technology for better population-based oral health outcomes. Dr. Scarlett has provided consultation to many international groups and organizations including the World Health Organization dental program, the Pan American Heatlh Organization Collaborating Center on Oral Pathology, twenty-four Ministries of Health, the US Department of State, the Caribbean Epidemiology Center and the League of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.

Bruce Lieberthal oversees the Global Innovation Center, which is charged with building or finding new solutions and companies and getting them and Henry Schein ready to put these solutions into various sales channels. The GIC is also responsible for taking part in activities at Henry Schein and with affiliates to educate the team on building a culture of innovation at the company.

Dr. Ralf E. Adam

Dr. Ralf E. Adam

Dr. Adam received his PhD from the University of Hohenheim (1994) and completed a 3-year term as Assistant Professor at the Chair of Molecular Parasitology of the Humboldt-University in Berlin. He joined Procter & Gamble in 1997 as Scientist responsible for Product Safety and Regulatory Affairs of Baby Care products and was responsible for the development of a skin research unit. In 2009, he took over the Clinical Operations group and the Oral-B Research Center in Kronberg, Germany. Since then, he oversees clinical research for manual and electric toothbrushes world-wide. Dr. Adam has experience as Principal Investigator, Sponsor-Investigator and Clinical Scientist with Oral Care, Baby Care, Beauty Care and Fabric & Home Care products in more than 200 Clinical Studies. He has published over 85 articles, book chapters and research abstracts in the dental, medical and life science literature.

 

Since 2010, Dr. Adam is a member of the Oral Health Research Group of the IADR and regularly served as abstract reviewer, Symposia Chair, Program Chair, Vice President, President and currently as Immediate Past President. He also is a member of the BEHSR group, the e-Oral Health Network, the Microbiology/Immunology Group and the Periodontal Research group. Dr. Adam serves as a standing member in the norming organizations of ISO TC106, as ISO representative in IEC, and the German DIN for Oral Care products.

Travis Greene is an assistant professor at Copenhagen Business School’s Department of Digitalization. He holds a PhD in business analytics from the Institute of Service Science at National Tsing Hua University in Taiwan. With a background in philosophy (BA/MA) and business (MBA), and research interests in personalization, data science ethics, and AI and data protection law, his research has appeared in journals such as Nature Machine Intelligence, Journal of the Association for Information Systems, Journal of the Royal Statistical Society, and Big Data. His interdisciplinary work aims to contribute new perspectives, frameworks, and ideas from the humanities into data science, and vice versa.

Jeremy Krell

Jeremy Krell

Dr. Jeremy Krell is a general dentist and a business expert. He is the Managing Partner of Revere Partners, the first independent venture capital fund dedicated to oral health, and RISE Health, the only inclusion-driven venture capital fund dedicated to oral health. Previously built out the Barchester Bay Group consisting of over 40 ventures. Has also held senior positions at startups, including Simplifeye and Verena Solutions. He has contributed to the success of companies like Quip and Oscar Health. Dr. Jeremy is also involved in dental policy and serves as the Chairman of the Workman School of Dental Medicine Board of Advisors at High Point University. He is a Member of an ADA SCDI Committee and the Chair of the Business Development Committee for the Massachusetts Dental Society.

Ophir Tanz

Ophir Tanz is an award-winning entrepreneur and technologist. He is the founder and CEO of Pearl, an AI company focused on solving fundamental problems in the dental industry. Previously, Mr. Tanz founded and led GumGum to several hundred million in global revenue by applying computer vision machine learning to drive and measure value for the digital media and sports sponsorship industries. Mr. Tanz studied computer science and earned a masters in information systems at Carnegie Mellon University. An established member of the Los Angeles startup community, Mr. Tanz actively advises and invests in startups and, in 2017, was named one of Goldman Sachs’ 100 Most Intriguing Entrepreneurs.
